Unit 2 Reflection
The studios that we took part in related to relationships because the first piece of art that we did (taking a picture that shows a relationship taking place) and then design it the way that we wanted. So this was centered on choosing a relationship picture. One other studio we wrote postcards to family members and on the back of the postcard we chose pictures and then past that around in a circle and each person added something new to the picture. And this incorporates relationship because there were different people placing their own personality within the picture, and added something that way.
One way that I would utilize visual integration with the given studio lessons would be as Pink described in his book, “empathy is the ability to imagine yourself in someone else’s shoes” (p. 159). This is a very important lesson for young students to learn for the real world, and this is what we did with the Surreal Postcard studio by seeing what that person would want in their picture. One other way that I would utilize visual integration would be to show my students the power of design, throughout all of our studios we designed our work, and we envisioned what we wanted the end product to end up at. And then we worked, this is similar to what Pink explained in his book, “Good design can change the world” (p. 81).
